<p>Happy Rosh Hashanah!</p>
<p>For those of us who only know Rosh Hashanah as a holiday in our Outlook calendars, here’s a brief intro:</p>

<div class="twitterbutton" style="float: left; padding-right: 5px;"><a href="http://twitter.com/share" class="twitter-share-button" data-count="vertical" data-text="Happy Rosh Hashanah!" data-via="DiaVickery" data-url="http://acugateway.com/WordPress/happy-rosh-hashanah/" data-lang="en" data-related=""></a></div>{"id":210,"date":"2010-09-08T14:43:22","date_gmt":"2010-09-08T21:43:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/acugateway.com\/WordPress\/?p=210"},"modified":"2010-09-08T14:43:22","modified_gmt":"2010-09-08T21:43:22","slug":"happy-rosh-hashanah","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/acugateway.com\/WordPress\/happy-rosh-hashanah\/","title":{"rendered":"Happy Rosh Hashanah!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Happy Rosh Hashanah!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For those of us who only know Rosh Hashanah as a holiday in our Outlook calendars, here\u2019s a brief intro:<\/p>\n<p>Rosh Hashanah, literally &#8220;Head of the year,&#8221; is a Jewish holiday and the first of the High Holidays which are days specifically set aside to focus on repentance that conclude with the holiday of Yom Kippur.\u00a0 It is observed as a day of rest.\u00a0 During the afternoon of the first day of Rosh Hashanah, or the second if the first falls on Shabbat, it is customary to observe the practice of <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">tashlikh<\/span><\/em> in which prayers are recited near natural flowing water, and one&#8217;s sins are symbolically cast into the water.
